100 Hooks and Rumours for the Impossible Lands III

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This supplement has 100 rumours that characters could hear related to the Impossible Lands, both within and without the region. Whether or not any particular rumour is true is up to the GameMaster. They could range from deliberate misinformation being spread to cause trouble to evidence of conspiracies and dangers. The rumours can be heard when asking for around for information and can be used as background colour or potential adventure hooks and cover Bhopan and Geb.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here are some sample results:

  • The Empty Threshold in Graydirge is one of Geb's largest temples to Zon-Kuthon and shields the living residents of the city, the quick, from abuse by the undead majority. It's rumoured that some of the more influential undead in the city are unhappy about the temple doing this, and are trying to cause it problems so that they will be free to treat the quick how they want.
  • The Field of Maidens has many statues of warrior women, the army of the pirate queen Mastrien Slash which Geb turned to stone. It's rumoured that descendants of the queen have been attempting to turn the women back into living beings again, but are having problems getting the magic to work.
  • The Gates of Eternity in Mechitar in Geb are regularly energised by necromancers, priests and more to open them and draw in waters said to come from the River Styx, and it's also said that with enough devotion Charon himself will row his boat out of them. It's said that the priests are trying to determine just what needs to be done, or perhaps what sacrifices need to be made, in order to cause this to happen.
  • The ghost of Lelzeshin, the last vizier of Bhopan and the one to betray the king, still haunts the Eternal Bloom. No other would-be vizier has successfully claimed the mantle, and it's suggested that perhaps Lelzeshin still possesses it. The king is said to be looking for someone to deal with Lelzeshin's ghost.
  • The Kulenetts are a clan of Grondaksen dwarves who live under the mountainous terrain of Geb and maintain a network of tunnels and highways known as the Laara, which prove to be useful for smuggling things into and out of Geb. It's rumoured that some within Geb think that undead should be sent into the tunnels to root the dwarves out so that they can trouble the land no longer with their smuggling antics.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
