100 Hooks and Rumours for the Impossible Lands II

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This supplement has 100 rumours that characters could hear related to the Impossible Lands, both within and without the region. Whether or not any particular rumour is true is up to the GameMaster. They could range from deliberate misinformation being spread to cause trouble to evidence of conspiracies and dangers. The rumours can be heard when asking for around for information and can be used as background colour or potential adventure hooks and cover Dongun Hold and Bhopan.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here are some sample results:

  • Hoba Dukuza is the capital of Bhopan and is located on a massive freshwater spring that provides all the water the city needs and never runs dry. The spring is known to be connected somehow to either the First World or the Plane of Water, which is what prevents it from running dry, but there are rumours that occasionally dangerous and sometimes downright unpleasant beings occasionally manage to come through as well.
  • It's rumoured that Alkenstar's giving the disgraced Donguni dwarves known as the gangue valuable jobs and positions of honour is causing some problems with Dongun Hold. It's known that more than a few Donguni are unhappy about the situation and have been pressuring the king to speak to the Alkenstari government.
  • It's rumoured that monstrous entities lurk beneath the Tinwound Hydroplant, and both Alkenstar and Dongun Hold watch out for them. It's also said that a recent experience has caused both to consider hiring some specialists to head into the tunnels in that area to seek out the lurkers and, hopefully, dispose of them.
  • It's rumoured that some of the Keepers of the Skyflame have been targeting the gangue, offering to help them redeem themselves by doing tasks for the Keepers. It's said that, whilst some of these tasks are simply listening to Keepers going on about proper dwarven behaviour, others include targeting other gangue who are refusing to be redeemed in such a way.
  • It's rumoured that the archives of Dongun Hold include material that has been locked away for many centuries, beyond the memory of any living Donguni, and that discovering this material could have a major effect on Donguni society if it was ever released to the general population.

One page is the front cover, one the front matter and one is ads.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
