Blood & Sigils

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Unravel untapped powers slumbering within your blood and alter space around you by using mystical sigils with two new classes for Pathfinder 2nd Edition with Blood & Sigils!

With this book, you will be able to experience the game in two innovative ways as it contains two new classes: The Hemalurgist and the Inscriber.

The Hemalurgist is an Occult wave caster that uses a Hemolith, a blood crystal implanted on their body, to augment their combat prowess and to grant them magical abilities.

  • Constitution is their key attribute as well as the modifier for their spell attack rolls and spell DCs. However, such power comes at a great price, as they lose Hit Points each time they cast a spell or use certain abilities.
  • Make your foes bleed to replenish your hemolith, as your weapon attacks apply persistent bleed damage, granting you an opportunity to Drain them!
  • By draining your enemies dry, you enter a Frenzy, helping you keep up with other martials! You can also end that Frenzy earlier to make your crimson spells and abilities stronger!
  • Each hemolith helps its host in different ways, such as the Gory Horizon, which specializes in medium range combat, or the Carmine Gem, making your magic even more macabre.

The Inscriber is a unique Wisdom class as they use spell-like abilities called Sigils, symbols that alter space to their will.

  • By using the Invoke Sigil activity, the Inscriber can draw up to 3 sigils with their tool, creating magical forces around you to either help your allies or hinder your adversaries. However, you need to plan your sigils as you invoke them, as each must at least affect one creature that another sigil affected this turn.
  • Each sigil has a normal effect, a greater effect, and a twisted effect, helping you come up with the best strategy to handle your problems at hand. And if it is not enough, then you can use a Combo, which are abilities that alter sigils to do new unexpected effects, but they require some set-up from a previous round before doing so.
  • If an inscriber uses 3 actions for the Invoke Sigil activity, they Synchronize with the space around them, allowing them to use the twisted effects of sigils and granting them a small protection against others' harm.
  • This class also comes with 4 subclasses, such as Time Bender, which harnesses time and space, by slowing the time stream of foes or inflicting conditions they once had, or the Iron Poet, focusing on utilizing sigils to power up the matter adjacent to them and enhance their body and weapons.

With more than 150 feats and 20 new spells, be the bloody hero or the spacial sage you are meant to be with Blood and Sigils, and go discover even more hidden secrets all over Golarion!

Update V2.0 Blood & Sigils has been remastered! The Hemalurgist got an extra hemolith: Sanguinary Grasp. On top of that, both classes got a few new feats (especially the Hemalurgist).

Hey there.
I wanna say that what you did is amazing, I love both of the classes and it even has pathbuilder support.
I want to ask something about the Inscriber. I am comparing it to the Kineticist, because that is the closest to it. Why does the Inscriber lack the lvl 1 class feat option? I think it is a little lack luster this way at lvl 1. Also it would be great if you could add the Sigils to the spell tab on Pathbuilder just like the Kineticist has it.

Glad you are enjoying both classes! The inscriber does not get a lvl 1 feat bc they already get a class feat thanks to sigilistic feat. That plus they would feel too front-loaded for a first level character.
As for pathbuilder, I will ponder on that. It requires a lot of work. x)

Oh okay I understand. Yeah and you already doing all this work by yourself, I am impressed :)
Another question would be the Iron Poet Sigil of Affliction. This only adds half your level to the damage and none from strength? And the Greater variation is like a double slice or you use your multiple attack penalty for it? This was the only sign I got a little confused about.

No, you add your strength and half your level. As for the Greater variation, it just allows you to strike twice. When an ability allows you to strike multiple times and does not specify MAP stuff, you use MAP as normal.

Hey, what is supposed to be the duration of the Sigil of Grandeur? There isn't listed any.

Another question, this one more elaborate: In this book there's a ton of "you move and then something happens" in the inscriber. In the cases such as the Sigil of Entrapment, is it meant that you lose the Stride action? So for example the turn could be one action Stride(falls prone), one action Stand, one action Stride, end of turn. Is it reasonable to "combine" the movement "points" for such cases or is it intended to be a loss of two actions? Thanks for your time.

I suppose you are talking about the twist effect of Sigil of Entrapment for this example. As written there, it does not disrupt the action. If something disrupts the action it normally says it does (like Reactive Strike on a critical hit) or it needs to make sense (like Readying a Trip action and successfully doing so when a foe moves within reach, disrupting their movement). If there is a sigil that does this that I am not aware of, I would be glad if you tell me!

Another question, now about the Hemalurgist: the archetype seems to mean that you get a worse Frenzy and only starting at level 12, but with Frenzy Simulator you can just...get it, and there's not even a "hard" duration tied to it. What is supposed to be the rulling here?

I would add the following to Frenzy Stimulator (and other feats that would give Frenzy): Prerequisites Hemomancy

Small question, is the Inscriber inspired in Luz Noceda from the Owl House?

Reading over the Hemalurgist and this seems really cool! The only potential minor "mistake" I've noticed so far is that the focus points are based on the old ways of pre remaster feats to increase pool size. I didn't know if that was intentional or not so just thought I'd mention it! Also it seems great minds think alike, this has a lot of similarities to my Maleficate class lol. I'm loving it so far, I'll write a full review soon!

Hoi Bristle! Thanks for mentioning the focus pool stuff! I started writing Blood & Sigils while the remaster was still not fully out, so I tried to make it compatible with legacy and remaster simultaneously. I plan to do a remaster only version (due to the new license coming to Infinite), meaning that I might fix that later on.

I noticed most of the sigils for the Inscriber require a creature as a target, but I feel like you could do some cool and interesting stuff if some of those sigils could target objects too (Attract or repel objects, change the position of objects, repair objects, destroy objects, trying to disarm people at a distance, etc). This would also give them some additional options they can bring to the table outside of combat and their skills!

It would be nice to have some sigils with those effects, but I was a bit afraid of how it would impact their balance outside and inside of combat since you can use them at will. I plan on expanding the classes of this book after I finish the next few books I have in mind, so maybe I could include a few of them like this!

Hey. Overall, a very nice product. There are some things I noticed scanning over the PDF:

- Drain doesn't specify what kind of Action cost (1, 2, 3, Free or Reaction) it has in the PDF. I reckon it is supposed to be one, based on context.
- Greater Crimson Awakening (Hemalurgist 14) has an Action symbol. Probably just a typo.
- Spells usually list their action cost next to their name and the Cast entry only lists traits like somatic, etc.
- Future Call (Inscriber 1) is missing proper formatting.
- And some wording and formatting I, personally, find odd, but not detracting from the product overall. Like in Drain's text: "The creature must do a Basic Fortitude save". Odd wording to me, but not incorrect, and so it's fine in the end.

Now I shall give it a proper, in depth read and let my players toy with these classes. I will come back with a review in a few days.

Not even 24 hours passed. You are far from late. Great of you to work so fast. In Depth read was positive. Got a few test encounters lined up for thursday to test in actual play. So far, though, leaning towards that five-star rating.

You might have a space added from when you copy/pasted it. I checked just now and was able to go to the link, but I had to delete a space from the line break.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
