Faith's Reward – Nethys

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The All-Seeing Eye is often derisively referred to as the "god of wizards". While that's not entirely wrong, it isn't exactly right, either. Faith's Reward – Nethys examines the influence of Nethys as the god of magic, including new spells, new feats, new items, new archetypes, and a new spell research subsystem to allow you to build or modify spells! A preview version is available here.

Content Warning: Faith's Reward – Nethys contains a feat with a strong implication of self-harm. If this is a problem for you, please download the "safe version" of the document with this feat excised. The empty space has been replaced with art and is unnoticable unless you know where to look, so you won't even have a worse reading experience!

A more detailed breakdown of what's included:

  • New backgrounds for the magically inclined.
  • New subclasses:
    • A new muse for bards, the archmagic muse, to bring arcane magic into your repertoire.
    • The spellbound racket for rogues, gaining cantrips and access to a growing amount of magic items without needing Trick Magic Item.
    • The theurgist wizard thesis, where you replicate the spells deities grant to clerics with arcane power.
    • The theurmancer cleric doctrine, whose faith in a magical deity allows them to poach a limited number of arcane spells.
    • Three wizard schools, the school of kairomancy (weather magic), telumancy (sword magic), and snau tshijon (a Osirioni school dedicated to Nethys's dual aspects).
  • New feats for spellcasters and their allies, including a small line of fighter feats dedicated to striking foes with elemental power.
  • A short look into Nethysian magic, sword magic, and weather magic, with a combined 3 cantrips, 16 spells, 4 feats, and two focus spells.
  • Three new archetypes:
    • The Lodestone, whose unique susceptibility to magic causes all magic around them to be more effective and can learn to use that susceptibility to take magic intended for allies or enemies.
    • The Spellshaper, who has a single-minded focus in learning spellshaping. This archetype also includes ten new spellshape feats that the various classes in Player Core can also take. Includes two powerful capstone feats to take your spellshaping to new heights in different ways.
    • The Spell Researcher is an archetype designed to take full advantage of the spell research system, even being able to turn spells cast through spell slots into focus spells!
  • A trove of items that adjust how you cast magic, from modifying specific spells, to swapping their damage types, to even temporarily adding your own spells to a staff.
  • A new Spell Research downtime system, that walks you through the process of designing and creating new spells. As your proficiencies and levels raise, your abilities grow naturally without needing feat investment, though five new skill feats allow for easier research for the five spellcaster classes from Player Core, as well as allow you to collaborate as a group on Spell Research. (Keep in mind that spell creation is more an art than a science, so you won't find a detailed step-by-step guide or point-based system for creating the mechanics for spells. There is guidance, but ultimately there is no one-size-fits-all solution for making interesting and balanced Pathfinder spells.)
  • Seven new ice-based spells to demonstrate the end results of Researching a Spell.
  • New ways to worship Nethys, Lissala, and Valmallos.

Faith's Reward – Nethys began writing before the release of Player Core. To avoid having to somehow write about material under ORC and the OGL, two incompatible licences, mechanics for the oracle and sorcerer have been delayed, and material for the psychic and summoner have been put on indefinite hold. As soon as the respective classes are available under the ORC licence, their material will be finalized and added to this product.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
