Heroes of Omen: Golarion Warlocks

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Alexandra_Petruk_-_Lock_small_dtrpg.pngThe gods are not the only entities who can grant power to mortals; some would argue they’re also not the most capable of it. Even the fabled Starstone, an otherwise inanimate object, offers those who pass its mysterious trials the gift of divinity. Forming a pact with an otherworldly being is a far more intimate transaction. it requires personal sacrifice and a willingness to trust that the deal won’t sour when it no longer benefits one’s patron.

Heroes of Omen: Golarion Warlocks introduces the warlock class to the Pathfinder 2nd Edition Roleplaying Game. As a full, 20-level spellcasting class, you get to pick one of five available patrons to follow. With some experience, you can even choose a pact boon that enhances your abilities.

Content

  • A Golarion lore-rich explanation for how and why warlocks are only now appearing, as well as details about each of the patrons.
  • 38 class feats that help you to enhance your warlock's abilities as you gain levels.
  • 5 otherworldly patrons - Count Ranalc, the Manifestation of Dahak, the Nine Facets of Jatembe, the Order of the Vice, and Orgesh, the Faceless God.
  • 3 pact boons - devouring maw, eldritch armor, and talisman esoterica
  • 7 new invocations that allow you to do things such as channel the scoundrel or invoke betrayal.
  • The Warlock multiclass archetype for those who wish to dabble with a patron's gifts.
  • 3 sample warlocks to help you begin your journey.

Convenience

  • Bookmarks of important sections of the pdf for easy navigation.
  • Referenced spells for easy reading of the content without hunting down all of the options available in books outside the Core Rulebook.

Circling back and updating this as part of the remaster project. I reconfirmed the balance against bards, sorcerers, and thaumaturges, and determined that it actually needed a final proficiency increase, so the warlock now gets eldritch resilience (master fortitude) at 17th level. Eldritch eye (master perception/will) is 13th, and we added this clarifying text to invocations to make it obvious that once you've set an invocation in a spell slot, you can't use another in the same rank of spells, so choose carefully. This will all be reflected in the upcoming remaster for the class.

"The first time you cast an invocation each day, you must choose at what rank you want to cast it. Until your next daily preparations, you can only cast that invocation at that rank. If you run out of spell slots at the chosen rank, the invocation becomes available to use again at another rank not already designated for an invocation."

Pathfinder Infinite and Drivethru RPG are owned and operated by the same overarching company, but I do see what you mean and will aim to update that with future runs. Thank you for pointing it out.

With the recent review in mind I will be circling back to this to give it another pass on the assumption that something got past me in playtesting. I hold my work to a high standard, and anybody who follows regularly will know I always try to maintain good, balanced content. So please don’t worry, and enjoy the warlock as it is currently. I’ll be back shortly to ensure it plays well with existing classes.

Updated 2/1/23 - Copied over "energy blast" and "invoke the warrior" from 'The Faithful Few' for easier reference.

Hey Kevin. This looks cool! Is it already offered in any of the larger Samurai Sheepdog PDF books? Or is this independent material? I don't want to overlap any of my purchases.

I always try to help support your PF1e material. Thanks!

Hi BCC,

Thank you so much for your support! Any time I create overlapping content, I make sure to offer previous buyers discounts to account for said overlap and intentionally avoid you spending money on something you already bought from me.

In this case, we introduced a version of the warlock class in 'The Faithful Few' on Drivethru RPG when PathFinder 2e first came out. This follows the same structure, but with new content added that more closely and accurately reflects the world of Golarion (its patrons and nuances). To that end, I reached out to buyers of each with discount codes for the other that you'll find in the purchase confirmation email when you buy either.

To get technical for a moment, I usually create a bundle that includes both products to represent the shared content, but these are cross-platform and I was unable to tie them together using the bundle feature, which is why I went with the shared discount codes instead.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
