Novel Boss Battle: Tarrasque the Armageddon Engine

This product is designed to allow players to have engaging and memorable boss fights in the Pathfinder 2e system, without having to rely on a GM running the monsters. In order for this to function, there are new rules in play to determine how the monster acts and to keep as much of the GM information hidden from the players as possible. All the rules you are familiar with in Pathfinder 2e are otherwise untouched and you can play the game mostly as normal. Included in this product is a map file in a variety of formats that includes special locations that players can utilize to help defeat monsters far more powerful than themselves. Additionally, they make some normally non-combat or social skills still viable to invest in rather than solely combat skills that you may normally expect in an “arena” type setting.

Decks of Cards: There are also a couple decks of cards that the monster uses for attacks, saves, and actions. While the action deck is critical to the system, you may find that the saving throw or attack decks are unnecessary for your group. These decks simulate the creature rolling a d20 and adding its bonus to attack rolls or saving throws without you truly knowing its modifier, hence there are 20 cards for each saving throw and the attack deck. After you draw a card from a deck and resolve it, immediately return it to its proper deck and reshuffle.

Preparation: To play this scenario, players will need to create level 20 characters with 200,000 gold pieces each. While there isn’t a GM, some options, such as other Infinite content may need to reach a group consensus to be usable. Similarly, if an ability mentions GM discretion, players will need to decide together how that ability will work. If a group can’t decide, you can either randomize the outcome either way via dice rolls or simply ignore that part of an ability or refrain from using it.

The maps are compatible with foundry, print, roll20, and other VTTs.

This is not my typical type of product or my area of specialty, but I think it is a system that could be fun for a co-op game night one shot.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
